PyWeek - Other contests?Which other game-developing contests do you guys know? I've been thinking about running on the next Ludum Dare, but I don't know when the next contest is starting (this information is apparently unavailable right now). I'd love to know about information on other contests. -Shundread — shundread on 2007/04/13 14:03 of The Incredible Car Stunt Comments: (log in to comment) |

Here are the ones I know of:72hrgdc - not sure when the next one is, but the message board has one of the worst spam problems I've ever seen on a message board.
ifcomp - You see a house with white siding. Inside you know that you will compete in a wonderful contest in which you can start developing a text adventure whenever you want, as long as you finish by the deadline. Prizes and glory await. If you want to enter, type 'enter'.
remakes.org - they run a contest about once a year for remaking an old game
gamedev 4e - they run a '4 elements' contest in the summer where they come up with 4 seperate elements that each game must include. Such as Zombie Ninja Pirate Robots.
autofire - if you want to make a shmup. Looks like this already happened this year so...

I just bumped into the MinorHack contest. Next one is starting in ~26 hours.By steveth45 on 2007/04/13 17:57:
Retro Remakes is no longer doing contests, according to the site.By Smight on 2007/04/14 03:09:
gamedev 4e sounds pretty coolBy saluk on 2007/04/14 06:16:
It is pretty nice, with good prizes too, although it's a lot more serious than this one, and for me less fun. You have so much time to work on it, that every time I try to compete, I keep putting it off until I forget that I was even trying to compete. I'm no good with long deadlines.By oneup on 2007/04/14 16:59:
i usually stay informed via povrazor's gamecompo mailinglist (site currently broken :/ ).By pekuja on 2007/04/15 23:26:
Apparently the next Ludum Dare is April 28th, less than two weeks from now. Get your editors ready! (this information is from the #ludumdare channel on Afternet)By Tee on 2007/04/16 13:29:
Great. :) So how do I enter it? The site still seems to be outdated.By shundread on 2007/04/16 19:32:
Also, how do people in IP ranges banned from Afternet deal with it?By Mike_W on 2007/04/17 02:14:
We have one - we will be running the first weekend in May. It's emphasis is on reuse of code. Some small simple challenge will go out. (examples - but not what it will be - click on something, or make something disapear when it it typed) You have two hours to put together an executable - code resuse expected - and an explanation of what you reused expected (and the more reusable code the better we rank it) Cash prizes. http://www.twobrotherssoftware.com/2hour07/
